{{Question |QuestionFaqPage=FAQ/Main FAQ |Link=https://alogos.dreamwidth.org/1341.html?thread=996925#cmt996925 |Topics= |AskedBy=antline |DateAsked=2026-01-24 |QuestionText=Hey mods!!! I'm ruminating over bringing an android character in the near future so I just wanted to ask some specifics on that.

1. I believe in another question, its said robots/androids who come as they are can potentially have biological manifestations of their transformation (like real feathers vs steel feathers). Could this also pertain to the whole body as time goes on? Ala an android slowly becoming an actual being? (maybe even a body horror aspect, flesh growing in the inside over time, etc.)

2. If the android looks notably inhuman, just to confirm, they will be treated like they're not alive/generally mistreated or disregarded by the actual populace? How far does that go? (Like will the android be able to get a job or will they be turned away, etc.)

3. Last question, I believe in another question, its said robots/androids could interface with some electronics with moderate success. How much control does this entail, exactly? (Like just turning on a radio, or being able to collect data? Etc.) Just want to know the general extent. |DateAnswered=2026-01-28 |AnswerText=1. Robots/androids can absolutely have biological components as a feature of their corruption/Shift. An Aves could have organic feathers or metal ones, or a mix, or a composite. Body horror components are always encouraged, all robots are welcomed to become as uncomfortably fleshy as desired.

2. That is true, if the android is not capable of passing completely as a human, but is recognizably robotic, they will be treated as any other robot/Golem in the city. Which is to say, as something that's not alive, and as worthy of as much respect as a toaster. They might not have trouble getting work, but they will have trouble getting paid for it, and are likely to need a non-robot's help to advocate for them.

3. Robots and androids can have some capacity to link up and use the local electronics. This would include a limited ability to interface with their Syntrofos, though the connection would be unreliable, and prone to breaking. It wouldn't invite much in the way of hacking potential, but they could send and receive messages, at least. They could also have some limited ability to connect to and operate with regular consumer electronics, but this would also be unreliable. The magic inherent in the machines interrupts the signal.

Trying to do anything more than establish a connection with the device's normal functions may invite some more terrible results, depending. For example: attempting to interface or hack too deeply into one's Syntrofos or even a regular ServiTon... may cause the robot in question to be overcome by a deep, overwhelming despair, enough to interrupt whatever they're trying to do. Relying on an imprinted partner should help them recover, but this is just a way to keep characters from hacking local ServiTons and/or their personal device.

(Connecting with anything mechanical in Kelesis would always fail. It might feel like it succeeds, but it never actually goes anywhere.) }}
