and if the pair-bonded have recently caused havoc, will they be kept separated for the experiments, or is the bond study-worthy enough that they could be put in together.

side note, but are any of the unsavoury comments made ("Can you believe we were originally supposed to use positive reinforcement?" etc) said where they can be heard by augmented and pinned down as belonging to one person in particular? (that might be enough to get northly to break her "cause problems but not actively fatal ones" stance.)
It could go either way, depending on what the players prefer! It could be argued that they're too dangerous (even drugged) to be kept together, where they might try to conspire and incite one another into being even more trouble. It could be argued that they too dangerous to be kept apart, and for convenience's sake they might as well store them together if that'll keep them even remotely calmer. The aspects of their pair bond could be studied either together, or apart (does it influence the various treatments, their current conditions?). So really, it comes down to whatever you would find more interesting!

The particularly unsavory comments like that occur exclusively around the kidnappees- and there is no lone individual responsible for them. All of the staff there seems similarly uninterested in the feelings of those they're testing. While some might be particularly callous, or utterly removed from empathy, others are more pragmatically indifferent (and might find it distasteful to be the ones conducting the more torturous tasks, even if they have no particular problem with it happening in the first place). It would be hard to single anyone out in this facility, as they're all culpable in their own way.
