homeostatic asked on Test Drive Meme - March 2025/Event FAQ at 2025-03-23

Answer date: 2025-03-23

Hi hi mods! If McCoy's tricorder – the white box he's waving around in the icon, a high tech medical scanner and diagnostic tool – happens to come along with him, would it work? And, if so, what might show up as hinky if he scans himself? 👀 A neat little device... The tricorder will work in the setting, but it miiiight go a little haywire (whenever convenient in a thread to do so, such as when you wish not to spoil a surprise or have characters understand something!). It can perform its regular functions well enough, to a degree: characters will read as whatever their state of health is, with the Augmenter not at all affecting its reading. Bizarre. It may acknowledge that people aren't feeling well for some very basic reasons (they all just went through surgery and whatnot, after all). Every once in a while, the device may hiccup and error out, or give a false reading of extremely poor health?! But it's just a hiccup.

In short, reading oneself after showing up here will accurately portray them as whatever status their currently in, but the Augmenter will go undetected or not noted. They have had surgery, they may be undergoing fever, they may be aching or in distress... but the reason is inconclusive. It can also read as an infection or a foreign body, such as an implant—which, it is, so it's not wrong.

wondrously asked on Test Drive Meme - March 2025/Event FAQ at 2025-03-17

Answer date: 2025-03-17

I know characters get mysteriously knocked out for getting too intense in the arena - but would they also get knocked out for starting a fight in the Valentia? If they slammed an older gentleman into the wall during Prompt IV would a ServiTon try to break up the fight?

(in our thread Silco is trying to bait Jayce to see what the violence threshold is for Patho-Gen knocking folks out, OOCly no personal preference either way what happens but I wanted to check first, ty!)
Unfortunately(?) for Silco, since there's no Patho-Gen staff around... there's no one to break up fights like these! In a case like this, where there's a ServiTon observing, it will definitely try its earnest best to request/plead with the instigator to desist, and may warn that it will call the authorities if they do not. If the instigator doesn't listen, the ServiTon will summon police to its aid...

Which would either end with the culpable party arrested (and given some community service to atone for the crime), or with them knocked out and arrested (and... also given some community service). Main difference is whether they're dragged away unconscious or not....

hi hi mods! thank you for the fun tdm!

i was wondering if you guys intend to post an overflow for it, or if you'd rather that we move our threads to our journals? since it seems like it might reach captcha soon!
Hello! I am glad you're enjoying it!

This was brought to our attention—totally forgot about how captcha sneaks up at about 5000 comments. We have an overflow here. Hope this works!

Answer date: 2025-03-14

So what if, in the play fighting, the instinct is less about fighting and more about mounting and mating, would that count as incapacitating and get the top dog (lol) knocked out? Oh dear... you could take that in multiple directions really, depending on what you wanted to happen! It's possible Patho-Gen would allow them to continue- because hey, this is good info too, as for what behaviors these Natural Souls might provoke the Augmented into (they assume it's the soul at work and not like... what the characters would be doing anyway. they can be wrong).

Or, it could strike the observing scientists as too obscene, and cause the primary instigator to get knocked out. Depends on the group the characters get, there's some that will still choose Karterian Propriety over science, and some who will... not. So really, you can take either outcome!

Answer date: 2025-03-13

Hello! If we picked a soul in the TDM and decided to go with a different soul in our app, would that be okay? Can we handwave that we've always had that soul, or can we say that the soul changed upon game opening? Or would choosing another soul render our threads as not canon?

I'm really happy with my current threads, so I'm hoping I can keep them. That said, I'll leave the final decision up to you all!
Oh that's no problem, changes in soul between the TDM and the app are completely fine. It's only once the character has entered the game that the soul type is considered 'set' (and then can only be changed once for free + costing 400 points thereafter). You're free to handwave any discrepancies between the TDM and the app. So there's no issue with existing threads remaining canon. c:

belovedscars asked on Test Drive Meme - March 2025/Event FAQ at 2025-03-12

Answer date: 2025-03-12

Hello, I was hoping to clarify something. For characters using the kitchens, how creative could they get with recipes? Is it similar to anything they'd find on a Betty Crocker recipe? For drinks like tea and coffee, would it be limited to a brand/type, or are more types like oolong available? Good questions! The things available in the kitchens are all of the ingredients needed to whip up any of those Betty Crocker atrocities, plus plenty of other basic ingredients/condiments, with a leaning toward non-perishable or tinned foods. Drink-wise, there are tea bags, coffee, milk, juice, soda—the list goes on. We won't be super particular about this: it could be that on an off chance, your character finds the precise thing they needed to make a specific dish on one day, but they don't have it on another!

It'd be easier to dictate what isn't available in there, even though it's not like they have top-of-the-line luxury ingredients in there to begin with. In Karteria, seafood is at a shortage despite being located right on the water... which means that the seafood you find on food items in the Valentia come from a tin, and they loudly proclaim being a fake fish product. Most meat in general is either canned, cured, or ground. There are no specialty meats. A bit peculiar that those are the only limits: veggies and fruits seem to be at least present, even more perishable ones like lettuce or raspberries. They're not super abundant though.

ashioki asked on Test Drive Meme - March 2025/Event FAQ at 2025-03-10

Answer date: 2025-03-10

hello mods! apologies if this has been asked and answered — but what options are available to characters who may wish to seek out their own medical supplies, ie bandages and even pain killers? ty! Always worth clarifying any point- and there are pharmacies available in Karteria (mostly Patho-Gen owned or associated with, though there's a few older shops just barely hanging on). Basic supplies (like what you'd find in a first-aid kit) are readily available, along with some painkillers. The sorts of things you'd be able to get over the counter.

With a bit of effort/talking to a doctor (or if they're the type, just stealing it), characters could also get some heavier/prescription medications. For these especially, stocks have gotten slow to refill, and shortages are increasingly common. Any individual store isn't likely to have much at a time.

There are also apothecaries, which are smaller and either individual or family-run. Some are legit, reliable, and trustworthy- if offering more unusual (and not scientifically proven) options to their clientele. Others are sketchy, dealing more with illegal goods, the dangerous, or the unreliable.

Cephalopods in particular might be interested in checking out these places for their magical tinctures; within the city, they're a good place to find ingredients. For everyone else: there's bandages and paracetamol.

Answer date: 2025-03-09

hello, is there any water available in the ballroom for characters who are feeling sick? They're quite inconsiderate, not having refreshments available in the space everyone's mingling in after waking up (expecting the Augmented to trek over to the Valentia to have their drinks/snacks). That said, there are still staff around who will absolutely fetch someone a cup of water if asked. If someone looks particularly unwell, they might even offer it unbidden.

mantlebearer asked on Test Drive Meme - March 2025/Event FAQ at 2025-03-09

Answer date: 2025-03-09

hi, a quick question: would a character who has a prosthetic be fitted with it already upon being released from the hospital? and since it's, uh, a very bad 1700s prosthetic at that, would it remain the same as it is in canon or would they fit him with a better and more modern version? A lovely 1700s prosthetic... We are totally okay with you picking whichever option you find the most exciting to play with. Your character could either arrive totally without the prosthetic, could arrive with the original already pre-fitted, or you could have Patho-Gen grant him a modern one that might exist in their world. Karterian prosthetics see a lot of use, despite lots of people not being adventurers, especially in the last fifty years! They can be quite fancy for limbs, or as plain as you'd like. Eye prosthetics are often exactly as they would be in the modern age.

aureliasharr asked on Test Drive Meme - March 2025/Event FAQ at 2025-03-09

Answer date: 2025-03-09

From looking around, It seems magic and science are pretty well integrated here. For a wizard whose whole life has been studying magic through a scientific lens, how much work will it be for her to start picking up this new branch? How restricted is the general knowledge base, and how restricted is the more... specific to their situation science? (I.E, Natural souls and augmenting are apparently pretty new and experimental, but how much of the basics can a very smart character start to piece together given the time to think about it) Much of the native "magic" that any Karterian is capable of, and the very same places citizens would steer characters, is toward a magic they call Calling (more about that here, right underneath the Karteria Primer). Augmented characters could learn how to do it if they possess an aptitude for magic themselves. This magic works only on animals, and works like suggestion rather than physically puppeteering a critter.

Characters who wish to study magic & science in Karteria will find that the reason they're so strongly interlinked is because technology is often relied upon in order to facilitate other magic. Karterian transit, the ServiTons in their city, Syntrofos, computers... All of those have a magical component to them that give these devices something of "instruction", all which borrows from the original magic of Pathos: Calling.

Natural Souls will be happily explained by Patho-Gen scientists. There isn't much they won't say about it. They are souls of animals captured, implanted in an Augmenter, then placed in a host. There's magic, but no technique involved in it, they will say. Much of the magic used by Karterians in general is facilitated by technology, after all. The most magical aspect of it is how it blesses the Augmented One with incredible resilience and power, and grants them great protection from Katalyth! They don't know why, but animals seem to (mostly) get on just fine around Katalyth—and besides, the theory has proven correct that having a second soul at all is necessary to bolster one's "defenses" against the arcane radiation, preventing them from arcane radiation toxicity.

Katalyth itself... There isn't any present in the city, so it won't be easy for characters to get the hang of what it's like, but it is very magical. Any documents about it, and arcane radiation, acknowledge this. A magic that works both as a potent source of power, but that destroys anything it comes into contact with... The barrier around the city protects Karteria from arcane radiation, so it won't be easy to "feel" any sort of ambient charge from Katalyth from within the city. For the sake of the TDM, entrances around the city will be guarded by security: though Karterian citizens are eager for characters to get to work on helping with their situation, Patho-Gen has instructed them to give their conditions time to settle before venturing out into the dangers of the world. (Our first log will include much more about Katalyth!)

I hope this helps; it's a very broad answer, but at this point in time a lot of the accessible materials will point toward much of the same things Georges/Patho-Gen has described, as well as the long-standing Karterian art of Calling.

startraveler asked on Test Drive Meme - March 2025/Event FAQ at 2025-03-09

Answer date: 2025-03-09

Since I don't see it anywhere: would characters be allowed to use the kitchen to cook on their own? So for example, if my character felt the food looked sus and asked if he can use the kitchen, what kind of answer would he get? The Valentia has their own designated kitchen staff who works regular hours, vaguely between 7am thru 11pm. (The Valentia's kitchen, and dining area, do serve more than just the Augmented, as they function as a meeting/dining spot and bar.) Augmented use of the kitchen space is allowed, as long as you're not causing a scene. Be polite and considerate, and the staff will allow you to use the kitchen undisturbed!

During off hours, all Augmented may use the kitchens to their heart's content as well—as long as there aren't any incidents (explosions, fire, general tomfoolery).

Hello! Quick Q about characters' belongings coming in: if someone arrived with their own phone from home (for stored pictures/music purposes, so a sentimental item in that regard since music especially is very important for him), would there be a way to get it tweaked to run/charge on Karteria's power grid? Yes, something like that should be possible! For this being their first time bringing in people from other worlds, they have a surprising variety of adapters developed. They might be a bit clunky in nature, but would do the trick when it comes to charging foreign items that need it.

Answer date: 2025-03-08

For III. Play fight, are any weapon-like items they picked up taken from them? Northly picked up her (non-magical) staff and is clinging to it, but I imagine it would be nabbed from her as they want her to shift rather than attack using a big lump of wood. Alas, yes- all weapons would be temporarily confiscated from characters before entering the arena. They would be returned afterward, but you're spot on- Patho-Gen wants to see those claws (and any other sharp appendages) come out.

assholic asked on Test Drive Meme - March 2025/Event FAQ at 2025-03-08

Answer date: 2025-03-08

Question regarding animal types: not absolutely necessary now, but I was thinking of it since I was pondering over bioluminescent aquatic life and then looking at things like lionfish/moray eels and I wasn't sure what type they'd fall under. Cephalopods are their own non-vertebrae type, but I didn't see anything that would fit fish/aquatic life like orcas or dolphins either. Is that because of not being able to function properly on land/without a lot of water? Or do they fit in other types and I'm just a dumdum? Alas, lionfish and moray eels both fall under a (massively broad) category of their own, just as orcas and dolphins are similarly in their own category. For animal categories that you don't see represented, such as horses, kangaroos, or fungi, we may have plans for them to be unveiled in the future!

Thus, the Natural Souls currently available are these base 10. It would become very unwieldy if we tried to capture everything and anything right from the start. The long and short of it is: those animals are not (yet?!) available as inspiration, but may be a choice to swap your character to, or to add onto your existing soul. Stay tuned!

Answer date: 2025-03-07

If I want Tifa to have a set of her gloves with materia, (a) can the materia still work (b) are the materia-d gloves one item, or are the gloves one item and the materia are each one item?

Would a summon materia be permissable (with a in-game cool down time)?

Lastly, I'm assuming I can hold off on WHEN she finds the materia if I want her to get them one at a time?

TY!
The gloves+materia would all count as one item, so no worries there! The magic itself would also still function, but be subject to the same limits as everyone else's magic (it's overall weaker, costs more metaphorical MP). Summon materia would also be fine, following the same guidelines.

And of course you can choose how long it takes for the materia to return to her! As they're magic they would be held back to start with, and then mailed to her current address within a couple weeks. It would be easy for them to just be... released one at a time (or get lost in the mail, or just be stuck in a box somewhere in Patho-Gen, waiting to be picked up... bureaucracy!). However you want to handle their return!

hihi! i wanted to confirm if there are any security cameras in the valentia and, if there are, would a certain someone be able to gain access to the footage/system there, either by charming the guard/s or via other means.

swear it is for totally and completely innocent purposes!
The Valentia itself, being a former hotel-turned-apartment building only has some limited security camera placements. They're mostly facing public areas, the hallways, and elevators. There's... not much to see, really, besides what your fellow Augmented are getting up to in the dining hall, or like- regular Karterians moving to and from their apartments on the upper floors.

The Valentia doesn't have guards, though the staff in the building probably won't take well to someone trying to break in to the rooms where the security footage is kept (or trespassing into any other staff-only areas, really). But depending on how well a character can be sneaky (or bluff if they're caught), they could probably manage some kind of access to those places.

hey howdy, just to check, re: magical items, if a character has a prosthetic that is not itself independently magical but can be magically influenced to connect to nerves and move-- like fma automail but with magic juice-- would this be confiscated or left alone in its un-magicked state? alternatively if it were taken, would they provide a temp replacement? it's a hand, for reference. An item like that, if it isn't independently magical (or too dangerous), would probably make it through Patho-Gen's scrutiny and be returned to them from the start.

There might be some small signs of tampering, as if to make sure there was nothing strange about it (no hidden weapons or the like), but it'll ultimately be deemed harmless and returned with the rest of their things.

ralliesprotests asked on Test Drive Meme - March 2025/Event FAQ at 2025-03-07

RE: magical items in personal belongings, and ability nerfing

Rowan has an ability that allows them to connect any item with a normal UI (phone/laptop) to any sort of tech, regardless of whether they should be able to or not (street lights, cctv cameras, house security system, etc.). It's generally aimed towards items that usually don't have a UI, and if there's any sort of security attached to the item they'd still have to break through it.
A) would this be nerfed entirely, or would they have some level of access to it (just to give an idea for the TDM, I don't need specifics on how much nerfing if the answer is not an outright no), and B ) if it isn't completely nerfed, would it work using a Syntrofos?

Related to that: both their phone and their laptop (current real life tech level) are included in their personal items. They aren't inherently magic, but magic has been used to jailbreak them, and they've been used to access various other werewolf magics. Would this count as magical enough to bar them, or would they be accessible for the tdm?
Oh that ability seems interesting, and yes it should more-or-less work in the setting! Their connection to Karterian devices might not be as stable as they were used to, however- like it might randomly break or snap, but will still be possible to do with some patience. It should also work to the same degree on the Syntrofos.

Their phone and laptop are temporarily confiscated, however, for the time of the TDM. Patho-Gen can tell something is up with them (also, the laptop is more advanced than the computers they have so... curiosity), but when no werewolves ultimately pop out (or other magical effects), they will be shipped onward to Rowan. And though they would both arrive intact/unharmed, there might be some sort of evidence that yeah they've been poking at these things.

I know this is probably going to sound absolutely ridiculous, but I don't.... really.... TDM much (especially not in ones as active and varied as this one!!) -- we can TDM a character that someone else is already testdriving their version of, right, though I assume never the two shall meet? Is this a faux pas?? Is this illegal. Will I be taken away by the Karteria Mods to Roleplay Jail if I do this. Hello! (Replying from my phone...) This is okay to do. Playing a character on the TDM is just that, and doesn't mean anyone has a reserve on them yet. Were the character already taken in the game (once it starts), it is often advisable that you discuss with the player of that character first to clear the air so they know you just wanna mess around in the setting! But right now, anyone is fair game. Just be respectful and we are golden!

Wanted to check if this fight scenario would fly:

OOCly we want this guy to be forced to brawl with his deathly ill buddy in the arena, so to facilitate this: if all the more reasonable NPC prompts fail to convince them to do it and he got big mad and kept yelling/refusing, is it cool to say the intercom folks would be like 'if you don't fight we'll separate you and make you both fight different opponents' or something along those lines? (tldr I just don't want to accidentally make the NPCs more aggressive than you intend!)
Edited 2025-03-07 06:17 am (UTC)
That is a wonderful compromise! Patho-Gen is... Well, they have a guise of being friendly, but it's a collective group of people with varying beliefs. Some of its members may well overstep what is reasonable for the sake of science. It could be that the panel your characters got are particularly unsympathetic, or they believe so hard in the Natural Soul evening out the playing field that they must see it unfold.

They may also say something like this, which hasn't come up explicitly in the game yet, but it's no secret: "Our first Augmented Ones were terminal cases. And they were cured by the Natural Soul! You have to embrace it!" They won't know how else to elaborate upon this further than what is available on the About Natural Souls section, but they insist it's true. Clearly this will just fix everything.

Question wrt to injuries sustained pre-pull! My guy's infected bullet wound is healed now but he has a cracked hip from the impact. Would Patho-Gen lend him a cane? Or is the hip damage just also healed? While Patho-Gen's magic can absolutely heal up injuries, you are more than free to let him suffer if you'd prefer. Perhaps they somewhat accelerate the process of healing, for example, and the fracture is only mended... a bit. Healing a grievous wound is no easy feat, and they may get a little lazy with some characters... And yes, they will offer a cane to those who seem to need it.

ummm hi hello! what would happen in the event that characters touch foreheads in greeting instead of after a trust exercise, does anything different happen? sorry ServiTon my 1980s guy is not ready for a robot to tell him what to do!! Aw... How sweet.

Surprisingly, it's not the act of touching foreheads that does the trick in the end. It's the conversation and bonding that happens beforehand, plus the addition of physical touch. If your character knows the other person and feels immediately attached to them, and the feeling is mutual, touching foreheads can heal! It'll be even more effective the more they chat with each other. But if they're total strangers touchin' foreheads, they might need a little bit of build-up before it helps at all.

Follow-up to this question: what if they just don't enter one? What kinds of default, lame usernames are we talking? You have two options here.

One is a good ol' fashioned keysmash to bypass the prompt. But after enough tries to leave it blank, it may well come up with a default: a fusion of a present participle, and a noun. A few examples: LeapingRock, YawningDesk, EatingScience, QuakingShin, TeachingLaundry. Very lame. Pick a combo of your choice, and be free.

if a character wanted to satisfy their curiosity and just kiiiinda... look into the sudden suspicious disappearance of georges in the play fight prompt, would they be able to? A wonderful line of questioning! During the Play Fight prompt, asking Patho-Gen staff members about Georges will leave them pining. They think he's really cool. Karterians in general really idolize specialized fields of learning...

Though Georges cannot be found at all in any accessible area of the Play Fight prompt, asking after him will leave characters with the impression that he is a very, very busy man. It's been like... a while, maybe even months, since any of them have managed to snag him for a conversation. Some Patho-Gen staff say they have seen him looped in company messages, though his replies have been very brief and curt. Again, he's busy. Since they're not in the branch of Extradimensional Affairs, they assume that it's because he's been so busy with this whole Augmented Project. (But please, tell them what he said! Verbatim, if possible! They weren't allowed to watch the presentation. All Patho-Gen members are kept quite busy.)

oh ho ho 👀 this is very good to know! if characters tried to sneak into inaccessible areas, would they be knocked out or would the staff just give them a Very Disappointed Look™️ and send them back on their way to the fighting area? or would there be a much worse punishment waiting for the insatiably curious types? We enjoy this... If you would like for your character to try, there are potentials for a whole RANGE of possibilities—but the most likely ones are being turned around or Suddenly Unconscious. This is the most likely and general outcome.

If you'd like... We will roll a D20 for you, no modifiers (i see you, BG3 characters). The terms are this: if it's above an 18, your character can get through and pick up a Morsel of info. If it's below 5, your character will receive punishment, ranging from jail to community service. Would you like to try? The other caveat is that while they may learn a bit about Patho-Gen, Georges is too occupied to be readily found at this time.

omg omg omg i am SO here for this, yes!! we love ✨morsels of info✨ and the possibility of ending up in jail/serving the community. Then aren't you lucky, in that... uhhh...

Well, it's some kind of luck, in the sense that this is one of Karteria's first Augmented to be punished. Congratulations. Whatever the circumstance (and you are free to thread this out as you please!), whether it involves violence or not, attempting to infiltrate a highly restricted area? Thorn gets as far as past the security line, before alarms go off. Patho-Gen scientists aren't trained in combat, and upon seeing her they panic and swarm her. They are both outraged and scared. One of them scrambles on a control panel, just beyond the shoulders of the other Patho-Gen scientists...

And Thorn will be out like a light. But when she comes to, she will be in the possession of law enforcement—and they've already decided that this must surely be a crime of passion. Trespassing, and she frightened Patho-Gen staff. Who knows what she could have done?! It must be because she was forbidden from entering that she impulsively decided to snoop! So! She is let free, but she is expected to serve community service—which you are free to handwave or thread out, either here or after being accepted into the game! Karteria offers many different positions as community service, such as cleaning streets, waiting on tables at an understaffed diner, polishing a statue somewhere... you are free to pick some kind of position that you would find entertaining to subject her to, of course.

Also: Patho-Gen Didn't Like That. <img src="https://alogos.dreamwidth.org/file/23907.png" width="75">

Hey uhhhh what happens if we attempt to dismantle a ServiTon The ServiTon does not appreciate this and makes sure to lodge plenty of protest. It will smack away hands that try to probe for seams or unfasten bolts.

But... if you successfully render one inert (via a good thwack to the front of its robotic face, submerging it in water, shorting it electrically, or just managing to dogpile the poor thing), you can take it apart. It is chock full of mechanical pieces rife for harvesting, including a patented chip (like a CPU) made for conducting magic. It is absolutely brimming with it. It's almost like a little piece of a soul... No Katalyth in these friendly guys, but the magic they're infused with is definitely how they "act" the way they do! And maybe it has something to do with the 'healing' that they can facilitate between two Augmented characters.

What happens if your character goes rummaging through a few bags that aren't theirs, since uh. Finding theirs via label on the bag is an issue for them. Oh... Pom...

They can. Absolutely do this. Patho-Gen won't stop people from grabbing the wrong bag. Not their circus, not their monkeys. You could certainly make a prompt here saying "he's reaching into YOUR BAG what does he FIND" or indicate that he's grabbed a bag with another character's name on it!

quick question!! dan feng here is a dragon man, capable of turning into a dragon as well. i'm going reptilia for him, is it okay for his shifted form to look like a dragonish lizard snake amalgam, or should i leave the dragon bits out? many thanks, the tdm looks excellent!! We have a similarish question asked here, if this helps. Overall the answer is that if Dan Feng has those dragon traits already, he can keep them. If he can shift into a dragon, Reptilia-type traits will manifest on his transformation as well. This goes for any character who can transform: all of their forms will have traits associated with their soul type. (And goodness, thank you!)

Hello, regarding the food and forgive me if I've missed it, but I'm assuming there will be options for characters that can't eat? Would there be anything specific or would it be limited to just the beverages section for someone like Astarion since he's on a liquid diet, haha. For characters that can only eat unusual (to a human pallet) substances (such as blood), the spread will unfortunately be somewhat lacking.... This is Patho-Gen's first encounters with otherworlders, and they somewhat underestimated that they aren't just all humanish entities who love gelatin and mayo. There are Valentia staff around though, in the kitchen, so they can also be asked if they can whip something up.... (A glass of raw beef runoff for those leaning in a sanguine direction, maybe... they'll try.)

Characters should definitely lodge a complaint with Patho-Gen, letting them know of this oversight so they can be better prepared for future visitors!

(If characters can only physically partake of some of the goods for physiological reasons but the player would like an effect from one of the others... go for it, there were some mishaps in the kitchen when this stuff was being cursed, some magical contamination.)

Hello hello! In regards to the "threat to the stability of universes beyond", if a character were to ask an explanation of how and why (the full, technical explanation) from, well, as many staff as they can until they get an answer or run out of people, is that something they can get an explanation for or are they told to wait? Great question! Staff members in the room during Initiation are just as shocked as the Augmented are to hear of all of this. This entire endeavor was a very top-secret project, they say, and they're... Well, they're grunts, relaying what they're told to relay. They're not very helpful, but they do know what they've seen: Katalyth's effects seem to spread beyond just their planet, and they can measure it into the stars, to a degree. They are so very confident: "Georges knows what he's talking about. He's the one who knows how you guys got here."

During the "introductory event" in the Play Fight prompt, staff members greeted with such a question will have heard about this claim, but only after rumors started spreading since that morning. None of them are 'experts' in the field, they claim, and so they couldn't say what it all means... But they may goad participants with this: "If you perform exceptionally well, I bet Georges will wanna talk to you. You can ask the man himself." Very sketchy.
